Tianguis Turístico 2025 made it clear that medical tourism is one of Mexico's great growth niches, thanks to visitors from the United States and Canada.
There's an impressive growth registered in recent years due to the development of a series of medical complexes, mainly in the border area and the country's interior, which offer all kinds of treatments, from facial and capillary rejuvenation to major surgeries and different types of cancer. Global Intelligence Health estimates that about 40 to 60 percent of tourists requiring medical services are Americans.
Tijuana has leveraged its proximity to the United States by establishing world-class services such as Cyntar Tijuana Hospital, an advanced metabolic medicine center focused on accelerated recovery with state-of-the-art infrastructure, and internationally recognised medical talent. It is certified by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and recognised for its high standards of care.
Another successful project—also located five minutes from the border—is Life & Wellness Medical Group, a set of clinics established in NewCity Medical Plaza, Tijuana, the most important medical hub in Latin America. The clinics offer specialities like hair grafting and stem cell therapies to combat autoimmune diseases, in addition to an assisted reproduction clinic and a precision dental clinic.
On the other hand, for those looking to rest and relax, Ensenada, very close to Tijuana, is the richest wine route in the country. It is equivalent to two-thirds of Napa Valley, with weather conditions similar to those of the French Southwest.
Here, travelers find farms that offer the best wines of Mexico and signature cuisine in internationally recognised wineries such as Finca Altozano.
