If you’re anything like me, by November you’ve already started googling “warm places to visit in November” while wearing three layers and clutching a mug of something hot for dear life. The pumpkin spice is nice, but let’s be honest, by mid-fall, we’re all dreaming of sunshine, salt water, and a beach vacation that doesn’t require a heavy coat.
November is actually one of the best times to travel: you’ve had just enough of the cold to crave an escape, and you can still make it home before the Christmas chaos begins. To find the ultimate warm-weather destinations around the world, I talked to travel experts who know exactly where to swap your scarf for a swimsuit.
Las Vegas might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think “warm November getaway,” but it absolutely should be. The desert city stays sunny and mild, with just-right temps for exploring the Strip or taking a day trip to Red Rock Canyon.
“November is such a great time to visit Las Vegas, and it’s not just because of the beautiful fall weather,” says Kate Wik, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority CMO. “The excitement of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix returns to light up the Strip and downtown comes alive with free music during the Neon City Festival.” From world-class dining to nonstop nightlife, there’s no shortage of things to do in Las Vegas this fall.
If you’re hunting for warm places to visit in November that feel far from ordinary, Madeira is a top contender. This lush Portuguese island sits in the Atlantic Ocean and delivers year-round spring weather with incredible scenery.
“A truly stunning island paradise: it’s often called the ‘Hawaii of Europe’ for its dramatic volcanic landscapes,” says Robert Feinberg, travel expert at point.me. “November has warm, spring-like weather that’s idyllic for enjoying one of the island’s gorgeous hikes, beautiful beaches, and exploring the coastal villages around the island.”
When it comes to easy-to-reach beach escapes, Key West checks all the boxes. The southernmost point in the continental U.S. stays balmy and beautiful in November, perfect for snorkeling, sunset sails, or sipping margaritas on Duval Street.
“The weather is near-perfect, with highs in the low 80s and low humidity, and peak-season crowds haven’t yet arrived, so you can enjoy shoulder-season prices and a relaxed vibe,” says Johnny Vance, Director of Concierge Services at The Perry Hotel & Marina in Key West.
If you’re craving turquoise water and postcard-worthy beaches, Curaçao is calling your name. This colorful Dutch Caribbean island is a sunshine superstar all year long. “One of my top recommendations for November travel is Curaçao,” says Casey Keller, Travel Expert & Founder of Wandering Everywhere. “Located in the Dutch Caribbean just outside the hurricane belt, it offers sunny, stable weather while many other islands are still wrapping up their storm season.”
November temperatures sit comfortably in the mid-80s, making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and exploring the island’s beautiful coastline and pastel-colored capital, Willemstad.
When it comes to warm places to visit in November, few destinations rival the tropical beauty of Thailand. The rainy season has ended, the skies are clear, and the beaches are calling.
“The islands in the Andamans including Phuket are at their best at this time,” says Catherine Heald, CEO and Co-Founder of luxury tour operator Remote Lands. “Each of the islands has a different character, and you can choose depending on your wish, whether it is for diving, sunbathing, family-fun or nightlife, the Thai islands offer something for everyone.”
Playa del Carmen is one of those destinations that just nails it in November. Everything during this time works in your favor. The weather is gorgeous, you get perfect 80-degree sunshine without the summer humidity, and hurricane season is nearly over, so you can actually relax without obsessing over weather apps.
“The cenotes near Playa del Carmen feel like your own private swimming holes,” says Jason Wright, Founder at Paradise Weddings. “And because it’s before the holiday rush, you’re looking at genuinely great prices, sometimes 30% less than what you’d pay in January.”
If you want to enjoy a South American vacation, then Peru is a fantastic choice. “Peru is a top-notch warm-weather getaway in November, especially if you’re keen to mix a bit of adventure with a good dose of culture,” says Leigh Barnes, Intrepid Travel President, The Americas. “The weather’s mild and dry across much of the country – think Lima and the Sacred Valley – so it’s the perfect time to hike, wander around ancient Inca sites like Machu Picchu, or browse the local markets without getting caught in peak-season crowds.”
If you’re looking for warm places to visit in November with a side of luxury and adventure, Dubai delivers in style. Temperatures during this time hover comfortably in the low 80s. “This makes it perfect for exploring the city, enjoying the beaches, or taking part in outdoor adventures like desert safaris without the extreme heat of summer,” says Sara Sarver of Visit Dubai.
November also brings the Dubai Fitness Challenge, with citywide workouts and wellness events, plus the grand reopening of Global Village, the city’s bustling multicultural festival park.
