JAPAN AIRLINES ENCOURAGES DOMESTIC SIGHTSEEING WITH FREE FLIGHTS FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS
Japan Airlines is offering free domestic connectivity to travelers from select countries who want to visit Japan. These complimentary services within the country are aimed at attracting more passengers for the airline and boosting the country's tourism.
Japan Airlines offers free domestic flights
Earlier this month, Japan Airlines announced an exclusive offer for international tourists from select countries, offering them complimentary domestic flights to any destination within Japan when booking an international flight with JAL.
This will allow passengers more options to travel within Japan and explore more of the country. JAL is promoting this offer by calling it a seamless travel experience, allowing travelers to plan their journey with ease. Currently, this offer is available to travelers from the following countries. More countries will be added to the list in the coming days.

Passengers can stay at their initial destination, such as Tokyo, and then travel within Japan to another location. Of course, the offer comes with some terms and conditions. Japan Airlinesâ website lists the following two important points:
- To ensure eligibility, customers must book a JAL international flight and a corresponding domestic flight in the same reservation. Separate bookings for domestic flights are not eligible.
- A stopover fee applies to US, Canada, Mexico, and China travelers ($100 and CN 300) whose first destination stay in Japan exceeds 24 hours. No additional charges apply for travelers from other countries for the domestic segments.
Strategies to attract passengers
Japan Airlines isnât the only carrier offering free opportunities to passengers. As airlines attract travelers, such offers are also becoming more popular. Many airlines around the world also offer free stopover flights from the US .
The stopover program of Fiji Airways allows passengers flying through Nadi International Airport (NAN) to stay in Fiji for up to 48 hours at no extra cost. This is particularly useful for those passengers taking the long flight from the United States to Australia and New Zealand.
Singapore Airlines also offers various hotel discounts and other attractions through its stopover program, "Holiday Before the Holiday." Other Asian airlines that offer something similar include Cathay Pacific and Korean Air.
Some US carriers also let passengers bring a guest for free or at a discount through companion passes. These are available to frequent fliers and are particularly beneficial to those who travel with family and friends. Some of the airlines that offer this option include Southwest, Delta, and Alaska Airlines.
